TRIBELHORN – Electric Cars made in Switzerland

Founded by Johann Albert Tribelhorn in 1899 in Feldbach (ZH, Switzerland), TRIBELHORN soon became an important manufacturer of electric cars, well known in Switzerland and beyond. The popularity of TRIBELHORN reached its high-time during 1905 – 1918, with several hundred electric cars sold.

In the 1910’s the car manufacturing industry experienced a dramatic change due to the fast development and the evolving industrialization of the combustion engine. Johann Albert Tribelhorn, still being convinced of the advantages of electric cars, did not follow this trend and continued to invest into new models and production capacities for electric vehicles.

However, due to the continuous success of the combustion engine, TRIBELHORN was going through hard times and had to sell its activities in 1919. Even the brand TRIBELHORN was in use for some more years, it slowly fell into oblivion and with it the heritage of Johann Albert Tribelhorn, a Swiss inventor, entrepreneur and visionary.

But times have changed. And now, more than 100 years after Johann Albert Tribelhorn started to build electric cars, it appears to be the right time to reanimate his heritage and his vision to build Swiss electric cars.
